MIKAELA BLOMQVIST-LYYTIKÄINENPsychiatrist, M.D., specialized in adolescent psychiatry and intellectual disability medicine, literature therapy instructor
DEVELOPING SUSTAINABLE PSYCHIATRYI am a 49-year-old psychiatrist specialized in adolescents, married, a mother of two adult children. I have a background of long-term childhood traumatization and shorter-term traumatization as an adult. It was not until the age of 40 that my functioning capacity collapsed and, after slight complications, I was diagnosed with a complex dissociative disorder. Then, after some more complications, I found my way into great trauma therapy. Considering the circumstances, this allowed me to regain the capacity to work quite quickly. Since then, I have been practicing psychiatry in many fields, also among patients with intellectual disabilities and substance abuse problems. I love my work and I try to educate myself as much as possible to provide other emotionally traumatized individuals with a path of diagnosis and therapy as clear as I myself have been lucky enough to find.
The matters closest to my heart are providing information about trauma and dissociative disorders in Swedish and developing trauma-informed services for the Swedish-speaking community.
